About this wiki
wiki.aslam.clinic is the health library of Aslam Clinic. It holds 100 plain-language explainers across 19 of our 19 specialties, and a glossary of 227 medical words. It was last updated on .
Why we built it
Most of what a patient finds when they search a symptom was written for somewhere else. The units are different, the diseases that matter are different, the medicines named are not the ones on the shelf here, and the advice assumes a health system that is not this one. We wrote this because our own patients kept arriving with printouts that were technically correct and locally useless.
So everything here is written for Pakistan: the seasons that bring dengue, the immunisation schedule the EPI actually runs, the tests a Lahore laboratory actually offers, and the prices and habits that shape whether advice gets followed.
What it is not
It is written to help you understand a condition, prepare for an appointment, and recognise the situations that need urgent care. It cannot examine you, it does not know your history, and it has not seen your results.
If you think you are having an emergency — chest pain, difficulty breathing, sudden weakness or difficulty speaking, heavy bleeding, or a child who is drowsy and will not drink — do not read an article. Get to a hospital.
Who writes it
3 people, and each article says which of them. Clinical articles are written or reviewed by a doctor practising at the clinic; where the editorial team wrote a piece, the byline says so and names the clinician who checked it. We would rather be plain about how a page was made than dress it up.
You can see everyone who writes here, and read how an article is made, checked and corrected.
How we handle being wrong
Medical guidance changes, and we will sometimes get things wrong before it does. Every article carries the date it was last reviewed rather than only the date it first appeared, so you can judge how fresh it is. If you find something that is out of date or plainly incorrect, tell us — there is a dedicated option on the contact form for exactly that, and corrections go to the medical director rather than into a general inbox.
Privacy
The wiki sets no advertising cookies and runs no third-party trackers by default. Anything that would load from another domain — an embedded video, a map — is held behind a placeholder until you say yes. You can change those choices at any time from the link in the footer. The full detail is in the clinic’s privacy notice.
Reading is a start. Seeing someone is the rest.
Aslam Clinic runs on WhatsApp booking, digital reports and doctors who write the pages you have been reading.
